It's easier to enjoy this type of Whisky if you're into Bourbon. On the Nose, this Mackmyra is more like Pop Music but on the Palate and in the Finish it's Sharper and Edgy and even presents a slight (Heavy) Metal note. A great whisky for a casual social, great fun. Very drinkable and enjoyable. Everyone I offered it to loved it, and helped themselves to more, finishing off my one bottle pretty quick. Oh well. Once again, though, I commend Mackmyra for keeping it regional and producing something singularly Swedish.

We were very pleasantly impressed that the staff are so personally dedicated to creating great whisky, showing a lot of attention to details and a lot of pride in the distillery. Mackmyra is a Swedish distillery with a cool back story.

But after the rough start I began to like what they’re doing, especially the authenticity of Svensk Rök. This is a lovely middle of the road sipper, flavorful, gentle without being light, and just a little sophisticated. Mackmyra has a strong reputation among international whisky enthusiasts, and with whiskies like this serving as its foundation, it’s not hard to see why.

JA NEJ. Mackmyra has come a long way since 1999 when it was founded as the only whisky distillery in Sweden. Since then it has earned a reputation as a top quality single malt producer in spite of its untraditional Scandinavian location.
